Long Beach has Water Use Prohibitions! However, it’s really simple an over statement of what people should not be doing in the first place. Such as washing down driveways, sidewalks, streets and other pavement with garden hose.  Have you seen people that do that?  Stand there and wave the hose back and forth on their driveway … but you know that person is concentrating really hard on making the water flow the correct way down the driveway.  But the funny thing is, if people picked up a broom and did a little sweeping… they might loose a little weight! Rule 2: No over-watering landscapes that causes run-off. This one is a “duh” too! Rule 3: Irrigating landscape area with potable water between 9am and 4pm. Ok, first… who goes home to water their garden during lunch? Must be a nice life if you can do that.  And a proper gardener would know… you shouldn’t water your grass/plants mid day because the sun will dry it right out and be potentially fatal to your plants. Finally, last rule: Irrigating landscapes more than 10 minutes per day on Monday, Thursday or Saturday if prohibited. This rule is kinda out there.  It’s like telling people to go to happy hour for a while and then go home and water down and waste water when they get home.  Not the brightest rule.  But I guess it keeps us for draining out the water at peek times.  But 10 minutes is sufficient for watering your grass.  That’s the most time I’ll spending watering my lawn anyways.

But what gets me is… my lawn looks pretty yellow right now, but the neighbors all have bright long green grass. Is someone not following rules? Sucks.

Oh, but there is a hotline to report abuse: 562-570-2455 or email waterwater@lbwater.org! HAHAHA!

A rule i learned in Catalina Island (CIMI)… “If it’s yellow, let it mellow. If it’s brown, flush it down!”

My neighbor love to water her lawn… look how green it is and look how dead it suppose to look on our side of the block!
